The Foundation Schools, which has provided special education services to students with emotional and other disabilities since 1975, is seeking an Administrative Assistant to work in our Largo, Maryland School.

Administrative Assistants at The Foundation Schools perform a wide variety of clerical and secretarial duties to support the administrative, organizational, and scheduling needs of the school.  They prepare and accurately maintain a variety of reports, records and files relating to students, staff, operational expenses, and school activities with an emphasis on accurate data entry.  They may also answer the telephones and act first point of contact for all callers, visitors, parents and students.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Complete data entry for student and school data
  • Prepare reports and correspondents
  • Assist school personnel with administrative tasks
  • Maintain files and tracking for student attendance and lunch programs
  • Answer calls and provide front office coverage
  • Manage filing systems, office supply orders, and mail
  • Assist with event preparations and other projects
  • Assist with the building maintenance processes and work with vendors
  • Process payment requests, reconcile petty cash funds and assist with other operational expenses

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • A high school diploma
  • Related course work, Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant or similar position with an emphasis on data entry, clerical and administrative duties required
  • Formal training or experience in a school setting, a psychiatric setting or other similar setting for children and adolescents with special education needs is preferred
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) abilities are a plus
