Cherry Bekaert, the nation's 25th largest public accounting firm, is growing! We're expanding our Nonprofit practice and have a newly created role for a Nonprofit Tax Senior Manager to assist with management and business development of the firm's tax-exempt practice. We have desirable locations including Tampa, South Florida, Tysons Corner, Bethesda, Charlotte, Atlanta, Raleigh, Richmond, and more! Location is flexible and relocation assistance may be provided. The Cherry Bekaert Nonprofit Group serves over 1,000 clients in the tax-exempt sector including colleges and universities; charitable and social service organizations; cultural and arts organizations; community and private foundations; healthcare providers, private/public schools, religious organizations; trade associations; and social clubs. We provide accounting and consulting services to our clients including delivering attest services, financial planning, tax consulting and compliance, and business process consulting services.We're looking for an extremely bright and motivated nonprofit tax professional with a CPA and/or JD. In this highly visible position, reporting to the Firm's National Nonprofit Leader, you will be offered excellent training, development, feedback, and professional growth.What Does Your Day Look Like?As a member of the nonprofit tax group, you will work on a national team that develops the vision and strategies for Cherry Bekaert's nonprofit tax practice. You will be responsible for managing internal resources and working on tax compliance and consulting engagements for nonprofit clients throughout the Southeast. Specifically, the primary responsibilities of the Nonprofit Tax Senior Manager are focused in the following areas: Providing tax compliance and consulting services to tax-exempt organizations.Researching and writing technical tax memoranda.Building and managing client relationships.Assisting with marketing and business development, including targeting, product development, and proposals.Assisting with detail and technical reviews.Supervising, coaching, and developing tax staff.Developing and delivering internal staff training.Managing the financial performance of engagements including budgets, billing, and collections.Assisting with internal and external webinars and presentations.What Do You Need for this Role?We're looking for a high energy, self-starter who uses his/her creativity to solve problems for clients. Strong communication and organizational skills are needed as is a passion for developing staff. Realistically, the following are also needed:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business related field.8+ years of experience in public accounting with at least 5 years in the nonprofit tax arena.CPA and/or JD is required.Hands-on experience with review and preparation of Form 990, Form 990-PF, Form 990-T, and state compliance.Technical tax expertise related to tax-exemption, unrelated business income, and all other matters unique to tax-exempt entities.Basic knowledge of corporate/partnership taxation and gifts and estates.Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.Engaging and effective presentation style.Strong interpersonal skills.What Can We Offer You?Competitive salary and performance bonusExcellent benefits401(k)Minimal travelWork/Life Balance.
