The Carlos Rosario School islooking for diverse, multilingual professionals for a variety of rewarding positions Department: Student Services Department Schedule:Monday and Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PMTuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1:30 PM - 9:00PM Primary Purpose of the Job: Incumbent serves as counselor under the generalsupervision of the Student Services Director. Organizes, coordinatesand directs a guidance program which provides a continuous process ofassistance to students through the identification of needs in the educational,vocational, personal and social domains. Coordinates the broadcomponent of guidance services (orientation, student assessment, individual andgroup counseling, educational and career advising, placement and follow-up) toensure that services are provided to every student seeking assistance. Alsoprovide support for teachers individually as needed and in regular stafftrainings. Essential Functions: Conduct individual and group mental health counseling Provide case management, through individual assessments makes referrals to appropriate social agencies, alternative programs and services Organize and conduct individual and group career counseling services Collect and synthesize individual student data in order to develop individual student profiles and produce appropriate reports Maintain student files up to date reflecting services provided Create and conducts workshops focusing on students and teacher needs (ex. HIV/AIDS, Depression, Alcohol/Substance abuse, Family Separation, and etc.) Assist in the organization of special events and student government association activities Maintain constant communication with teachers regarding scheduled events, programs and follow-up to student referrals Perform other duties as requested and in keeping with achieving outstanding school, academy, student and course objectives Perform crisis intervention as needed, also responsible for related follow-up and/or more support Create and facilitate support groups Secondary Functions and Responsibilities: Assist with workshop/training planning and implementation Build relationships with community organizations Participate in school wide committees Work with teens to navigate educational options in DC Assist with school wide events Respond to community members seeking assistance via phone or in person Administers career tests and assessment to advance level students Assist with the organization and implementation of internal scholoarship program Assist students with their professional goals and with the college of vocational program application process, which includes but is not limited to: choosing a college or vocational program Facilitating contact with colleges/vocational program advisers/counselors Required Education:A Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology orCounselingLicense in the District of Columbia or workingtowards a license A minimum of two years' experience in mentalhealth counseling Required Core Competencies:Excellent oral and written communications skillsin EnglishProven ability to interact with populations ofdiverse cultural, social, and economic backgroundsAbility to work some weekends and evenings
