ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Upper Occoquan Service Authority (UOSA) is a regional water reclamation plant serving four jurisdictions (Fairfax County, Prince William County, City of Manassas and City of Manassas Park).
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
The Upper Occoquan Service Authority, a leader in water reclamation, is seeking an experienced individual to serve as a Capital Improvements Section Assistant working within our Technical Services Division. The ideal candidate will perform administrative, financial and/or secretarial functions.
The Capital Improvements Section Assistant’s primary responsibilities include; but is not limited to, functioning as the section/division buyer to purchase items using JDEdwards/Enterprise One (E1), Works, and Kronos to generate reports, memos, spreadsheets, charts and various other documents for public reports, administrative analysis and questionnaires. The individual will be responsible for answering/screening telephone calls and visitors and scheduling appointments for Managers, explains policies and procedures, coordinates repairs with Operations & Maintenance personnel, and transcribes meeting minutes from digital recordings. May be required to assist the Division Director when needed or in the absence of the Technical Services Specialist and frequently acts as the intermediary for the supervisor and may be delegated authority for handling administrative details.
Must show great attention to details and be a self-starter performing necessary work without the need to be asked; keeps lines of communication open for team members and supervisors on results and the necessity of work.
Superior knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic, word processing, spreadsheet, and related computer equipment and software including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to type and make arithmetic computations with speed and accuracy; ability to maintain clerical records and prepare reports; ability to interact with UOSA staff and the public tactfully and courteously and to work harmoniously with other employees. The individual will function as the section/division buyer to purchase items using UOSA-provided software (JDEdwards/E1); the ability to use enterprise-wide software such as JDEdwards/E1, WORKS, and KRONOS is essential.
- Completion of high school or a GED program and related administrative work experience is required. Participation in supplemental courses in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) and general business practices are desirable. Any combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
- Possession of a vehicle operator’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
- Must be able to meet physical requirements of position to include extensive walking, bending, stooping, climbing of stairs and ladders, lifting and/or carrying up to 30 pounds.
