The Director, Office of Scientific Meetings and Conferences (OSMC) is responsible for leading teams that organize and provide logistical services for large and small scientific meetings, conferences and exhibitions and supporting FASEB’s annual series of 30+ Science Research Conferences (SRCs)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This individual will have overall responsibility for the success of domestic and international scientific meetings, conferences and exhibitions. Key to the role will be developing and motivating staff as they exceed both internal and external client expectations in organizing best in class conferences and contracted meetings and supporting a culture of continuous improvement of the same. Working with the Director of Society Management Services and Marketing, she/he will also identify new client opportunities, prepare proposals and assist with client presentations. In addition, he/she will work with the Science Research Conference Advisory Committee to develop and grow the SRC program.
What You Need to Bring to the Table
A solid background organizing meetings, conferences and exhibitions with between 100 and 14,000 participants, preferably in the scientific community. Demonstrated experience managing and motivating meeting/conference management teams of 4-8+ staff. Deep interpersonal skills and experience growing client and staff relationships, including fostering cross departmental collaboration. Must have experience developing business opportunities, and success in managing budgets.
