Responsibilities

With minimal supervision, the Systems Engineer provides core systems supporting all Command and Control Mission Systems (C2MS), their associated software, hardware, configurations, and architectures as listed as part of the Specialized Automated Mission Suite (SAMS). Works as a member of a diverse engineering team to ensure all operating mission nodes (operations centers, airborne weapon systems, ground teams, and other) can interoperate and execute synchronized mission activities via their mission systems, connected through various mission networks. Ensures systems are interoperable and networked within and external to AFSOF, especially between AF and SOF systems. Integrates conventional, special operations, and other systems and applications into light, lean, integrated, interoperable, and scalable packages that are used in-garrison and deployed. Provides higher order systems and IT engineering, analysis, and baseline systems development for AFSOF C2MS employment. Develops and tests computer and other device configurations and builds, and develops systems and systems architectures using NIST and DISA STIG standards. Provides security analysis, C2MS support training, and develops C2MS standards for Government approval. Provides cradle-to-grave support for all assigned systems. Works with engineering staff in all functional areas to ensure full support and integration of all SAMS, AFSOF unique components, and government systems of record, to include: TBMCS UL/FL, GCCS-J/AF, TACLAN, SAMS-C2 Server, SAMS-C2 Client, SAMS-TGGRS, SAMS-EFB, and SAMS-ESA client builds. Mentors systems administration staff on engineering principles and support for newly engineered SAMS systems. Provides training to government and technical staff on SAMS systems. Assists the C2MS team to ensure all contractual obligations and objectives are met in accordance with the Statement of Work and functional area.

    Ability to support 24x7 work schedule, shift work and deploy as required, in support of customer initiatives and missions; Normal business hours are the standard, but flexibility needed to support a dynamic customerSelf-starter, motivated, shows initiative, and learns fastAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously, creating and updating systems lifecycle documentation, as requiredDemonstrated experience (8 – 10 years preferred) engineering and developing various IT hardware and software solutions, analyzing systems and requirements, experimenting and testing, performing vulnerability and security assessments, and developing and integrating complex IT solutionsAt least 4 years of experience with VMWare and its related components, or similar COTS or open source Virtualization productsStrong Knowledge of TCP/IP, networking fundamentals and have some experience supporting switches and routers
    Demonstrated experience with the following:
      Engineering models to support life-cycle sustainmentImplementing DISA STIG requirementsVeeam Backup & Replication, Splunk, AirWatch, Plone/Zope, Apache desiredStreaming technologies such as IGMP, RTMP, Wowza, HTML5 desiredPatching RedHat or Windows servers, clients and various COTS applicationsMaintaining, configuring, troubleshooting NetApp, EqualLogic, and other SAN/NAS storage appliancesSupporting IAVA remediation, desktop/server supportPerimeter, Network, and Host Firewalls; Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)DoD Configuration Management, Information Assurance and Systems Lifecycle Management processesCreating and maintaining engineering documentation in accordance with DoDAF standards
    Required Experience:

    Desired qualifications:
      Mobile Device Management experience and certificationKnowledge of DIACAP/RMF
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

 

Required Certifications

    DoD Instruction 8570.01-M, IAM L-2 IAT-Level 2 (Sec+ CE)AWS Certification 1 or more of the following AWS Certs (AWS Certified Developer Associate, Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Certified DevOps Engineer Professional, or Certified Solutions Architect Professional)Operating System Certification (MCSE or RHCSE)
 

Desired Certifications:

    ITIL v3 Foundation certification
Qualifications 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
