Operations and Events Manager - Center for the Protection of intellectual Property

The George Mason University Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property (CPIP), within the Antonin Scalia Law School, is accepting applications for a full-time, benefited Operations and Events Manager to join the team. About CPIP: The Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property is dedicated to the scholarly analysis of intellectual property rights and the technological, commercial, and creative innovation that they facilitate. CPIP explores how strong property rights in innovation and creativity can foster successful and flourishing individual lives and national economies.

Responsibilities: The Operations and Events Manager will be responsible for managing all logistics related to CPIP’s office operations and events. Primary responsibilities will include: (1) developing and managing the center’s administrative and operational office procedures; (2) managing the center’s vendor relationships and contracts; and (3) managing the planning and execution of the center’s events, including interfacing with intellectual property law professors, policy professionals, industry representatives, and numerous other CPIP constituencies.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelors degree is required (candidates with an equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree requirement); * Excellent spoken and written communication skills; * Familiarity with university administrative procedures; * Familiarity with relevant vendors for intellectual property academic and policy events; * Familiarity with event management practices and software; * Proven ability to handle numerous responsibilities simultaneously, displaying great attention to detail, while mixing long-term projects with the urgency of critical demands; and * Proven ability to build strong and sustainable relationships within an academic and policy environment.

Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated work experience interfacing with intellectual property law professors and intellectual property policy professionals (at least three years is preferred).
