Responsible for the design and development of voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks. 1. Analyzes voice, video, radio-frequency, and/or data communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices. 2. Plans network layouts and configures systems to user environments. 3. Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements. 4. Supports the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed. 5. May provide technical support and troubleshooting to users. 6. May perform network administration duties. 7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 8. Participates in special projects as required. 9. Security + required Performs system security engineering and operations support of vulnerability management systems and host base security systems. Develops tactics, techniques and procedures using AF tools to improve the security posture of supported networks. Scans, tracks, records and reports vulnerabilities using government provided tools. Utilizes technical orders to perform assigned duties and make recommendations to improve standardized systems and their technical orders. Reports and uploads scan results to the DISA's Vulnerability Management System (VMS) tool, or its successor, on a monthly or as needed basis for Air Force Base's (AFB) to review and remediate. Performs trend analysis of vulnerability scan data to generate reports identifying the security posture of the base (i.e. deficiencies, history of repeats, etc.). Develops draft TOs, SOPs, checklists, guides, best practices and procedures for conducting vulnerability assessments. Automates procedures using scripts, Sequel (SQL)/database administration, or other available technology and reports monthly repeat high vulnerabilities to the communications unit. Plans, conducts and reports AF enterprise patch management, minimizing disruptions to operational customers. Validates compliance with AF security practices and responds to NetOps directives such as IAVAs, NOTAMs, TCNOs, TCTOs, CTOs, and MTOs. For certain requisitions oversees, the AFIN Reporting Cell ensures the acknowledgement and reporting of IAVA/B with the appropriate knowledge to address the unit's response. By requisition level of 8570 Certification and OEM/Industry, Certifications will be added to be in compliance Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience. Qualifications 2-5 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design.
