General Building Maintenance Worker I
Perform repairs, preventive and corrective maintenance at county-owned facilities. Performs general carpentry, and minor plumbing, and electrical tasks. Duties include repair and maintenance of roof systems, drywall repair, structural repairs, acoustical ceiling, and flooring repairs, corrective maintenance on doors & closures, assist with plumbing , as well as re-lamping as necessary. Tasks can be performed as a team or individually. On-call or alternate shifts may be necessary to complete work assignments. Duties are performed under supervision. Incumbent is considered emergency essential. Flexible working schedule is required as well as overtime, call-back and on-call.Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the tenth grade; plus completion of an acceptable apprentice-level training program in a specific trade with one year of experience performing building maintenance, repair and/or construction work independently, or two years of varied and responsible full performance-level experience in building maintenance, repair or construction trades.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid motor vehicle driver's license.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, and pre-employment physical to the satisfaction of the employer.
Minimum of three years of carpentry experience. Strong knowledge in commercial carpentry preferred. A working knowledge of corrective maintenance in commercial facilities preferred.
Must be able to climb step ladders 14 feet in height. Must be able to climb extension ladder and scaffolds up to 50 feet in height. Must be able to lift up and carry up to 75 pounds with assistance of dolly, lift or staff. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
Panel interview and may include exercise.
