PenFed is hiring a Senior Credit Policy Analyst in McLean, VA. The primary purpose of this job is to to develop single-family credit risk management policies. The position will be a member of the credit risk management team and manage mortgage credit related issues and work on a mortgage credit policies. This position will be involved with developing, recommending, communicating and implementing mortgage credit risk management policies.

 

Essential Functions

    Develop new/revise existing mortgage credit policies that are balance credit risk management with business growth and that are consistent with PenFed risk tolerance with particular focus on policy development for 1st Trust, Fixed Equity, and Equity Lines of Credit. Perform credit risk monitoring and prepare management reporting on both organic and acquired portfolio to analyze risk trends and identify root causes, including originations volume / quality, portfolio risk migration and performance, vintage quality and auto vs. manual underwriting performance and exceptions Maintain strong working knowledge of mortgage lending related regulations to ensure compliance. Remain abreast of financial regulatory developments in credit risk management and best practices within the industry.  Monitor FNMA and other investors policy changes and evaluate impact to our policies. Manage process for policy review and approval and develop and present strong, well communicated analysis and business cases. Partner with various groups (Credit Risk Modeling, Business Lines, Compliance, Operations, Finance and Enterprise Risk Management) to identify areas of opportunity and spearhead initiatives in order to enable profitable growth while minimizing credit risk exposure and adapting to changing economic and regulatory environment. Serve as mentor to other staff by training and assisting in the development of skills. Provide thoughtful leadership and foster collaboration towards the attainment of corporate goals. Education and Experience

    College degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required Min of 5 years related work experience with a focus on credit risk policy & analysis and credit risk management in financial services is required Ability to develop credit policy requirements Proven project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects. Self-motivated and strong interpersonal skills in order to actively lead and implement ideas in a cross-functional team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication, and presentation skills required.

    This position wil not supervise employees.
