PenFed is hiring a Senior Project Manager, Payment Products and Services in either Omaha, NE or McLean, VA. The Senior Project Manager for Payment Products & Services will lead project delivery of strategic portfolio initiatives, process re-engineering efficiencies and technology solution projects for the Payment Products & Services organization.  The Senior Manager role requires extensive project management and issue resolution/reporting skills related to credit card/debit card and payment processing.  



Essential Functions

    Manage full lifecycle project activities and documentation requirements from concept through execution within recognized Project Management governance framework. Examples include, Concept Definition, Business Case Development, Project Plans and Budgeting, Issues/Risks and External Customer Rollout. Must have managed system implementations, integrations, and application enhancement projects, ideally with payment processing applications (credit card, debit card, ATM, ACH, wire). Communicate major milestones and project risks/issues to stakeholders and management. Work collaboratively with cross-divisional stakeholder’s key stakeholders to determine and manage operational and system impacts. Support the overall success of multiple concurrent efforts/initiatives. Work collaboratively with Technology Partners in developing business solutions for customers. Establish strong working relationships, build credibility and partners with key PenFed constituents and external vendors to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining a positive Member experience.  Responsible for providing payment operations and processing expertise to cross-functional project team.  Escalate partner issues as needed to ensure PenFed’s interests are being given top priority with vendors.  Proactively ensures alignment with Payment Services vision and business goals; keeping management informed of progress and issues. Must be able to work multiple projects concurrently and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines. Provide professionally written and verbal communication as required.

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience which provides a level of skill and knowledge necessary to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions or equivalent job related experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of payment processing experience leading a number of payment related projects, including Agile methodologies.    
  • Requires advanced knowledge of payment processing systems

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will have limited responsibility for direct employee supervision


Licenses and Certifications

PMP Certification strongly preferred.  Corporate sponsored training to obtain certification is available.


Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.



Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call is required.
