PenFed is hiring a Senior Manager, Credit Analytics and Modeling in Alexandria, VA.  The position will set up strategic plan for the credit risk modeling team, leading the team to  develop and monitor credit risk models used by the credit union for loan originations, risk adjusted pricing, portfolio management, and collections. This position will develop and implement credit risk models through collaboration with stakeholders throughout the credit union.


Essential Functions

    Work with key stakeholdes and set up agenda which alignes with overall business strategic goal Be capable and creative on leveraging various statistical methodology to solve business problem Develop and implement acquisition, pricing, and credit underwriting models used to support lending decisions by using advanced modeling and simulation techniques to optimize the performance of loan products and operations. Develop statistical models and scorecards used in credit underwriting, loan pricing, collection, and portfolio risk monitoring. Collaborate with product managers in optimizing marketing campaigns used in acquisitions that align with the credit policies and scoring models. Develop price elasticity models to support risk adjusted pricing. Establish and own model governance for the models built and owned by the team Monitor performance of quantitative models and support independent model validation efforts in accordance with the model governance policy. Participate in identification, measurement, and monitoring of credit risk as it relates to Merger and Acquisition (M&A), loan purchases and participation, and other new business strategies. Utilize credit models and analytics to assist lending with policies and strategies that maximize profits and asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses as well as other risk exposures.

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering or a related field is required.  Master’s Degree in a quantitative field is highly preferred. Minimum of eight  (8) years’ of experience in quantitative modeling is preferred. Experience with SAS and proficiency working with large datasets is required. Ideal candidate would have experience in at least one (1) of the following areas:
      Real Estate
        experience building quantitative risk models for real estate lending knowledge of real estate products is preferred
      Consumer Lending
        experience building quantitative risk models for unsecured consumer products like credit cards and personal loans Knowledge of unsecured consumer products like credit cards and personal loans is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

    This position will directly supervise employees.

Licenses and Certifications

    There are no additional certifications required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
