PenFed is hiring a Senior Manager, Branch Operations in the Washington DC Metro area . The primary purpose of this job is to supervise the daily operations of several large, medium or small branches, associated satellite branches, and/or telephone service centers in a designated US or Overseas region. Designated branches will provide full lobby service, may provide teller service and a branch ATM.  There will be senior manager for small branches, medium branches and large branches.


Essential Functions

    Work with the branch manager develop and implement  an operating budget, business plan with sales and productivity goals, and a marketing plan containing event promotions, direct mail, and other strategies for each assigned operation. The results of these plans or progress against budget, sales, and productivity goals are reported on a regularly scheduled basis as established by the appropriate management team member.  Be a direct resource for managers on staff, technology, and budget issues to ensure member service standards are met and exceeded.  The measurement of these results is measured using branch goals and other identified measurements.  Provides supervision and coaching to Branch Managers, evaluating productivity and sales goals for staff members, regularly reviewing verbal and written evaluations, administering corrective disciplinary action and counseling for Managers who are not meeting their standards and/or not performing the job in a manner consistent with PenFed policy and procedure or management directive.  Assists in recruiting, hiring and training of Managers and Operations staff for assigned branches.  Conducts periodic site visits, within assigned travel budget. Act as a liaison, representing the interests of Branch Operations in key projects, mergers, and PenFed corporate initiatives. Assist in establishing or revising policy, enforcing and implementing compliance directives, and reviewing system enhancements. Assist in branch projects as operation project representative. Periodically audit and maintain prescribed security controls to protect assigned facilities and the cash on hand against criminal and fraudulent operations. This includes enforcing the new member screening P&P, ensuring that all security equipment is adequately maintained. Also ensure that security procedures as noted on the branch inspection form are adhered to, and that all staff members are knowledgeable of their duties and actions as described in the Branch Hold-up and Robbery Policy and Procedure. Act as a loan officer within lending authority limits and refer loans not within limits to the appropriate department with recommendations. Ensure that all loan applications are acted on within 24 hours, and that the records related to the loan decision are preserved, organized and forwarded to either Member Records or Credit Department, as appropriate. The manager or designee is responsible for ensuring that all applications are actively worked on through final action. Remain knowledgeable and assist in review and enhancement of PenFed products, procedures, and in areas impacting the credit union or the membership. This includes but is not limited to procedural, interdepartmental, company, base or military affairs, and industry information.  Must be familiar and have an understanding of the DOD regulation on Financial Institution (DOD 7000.14-R Provide members information with regard to financial services offered by the credit union, and manages escalated member requests/complaints from assigned branches. This information is provided under the goal of financing purchases, resolving problems with delinquency, lowering finance charges on existing debt, reducing fee expenses, and/or increasing interest income on deposit products. Ensure assigned branches conduct staff meetings, to review current marketing promotions, provide training or re-training on credit union procedures, technical procedures, and BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) initiatives or to review the results of branch performance. Hold regular coaching sessions with assigned Managers, to ensure that feedback and training is delivered in a way that motivates and clearly communicates the corporate goals. Ensure assigned branch managers conduct career progression meetings with each employee at each assigned branch. Responsible for coordination and oversight of facilities projects within assigned branches.  Communicates regularly with Facilities and Branch Manager to ensure any and all approved projects are completed in a timely fashion and within assigned budget. Develop branch managers to create a business development plan for their respective branch.  Business Development plans must include coordinated activities with car dealers, military or DoD Banking Liaison personnel, and/or landlords and their representatives as is required by the Branch Plans, or through DoD regulation. Occasionally, this position will represent the Credit Union at an industry or DoD function. Present financial information through whatever forum is provided by our sponsor organizations, or through special assignment to a membership development function.

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required. Minimum of six (6) years’ of experience in management in a financial institution is required. Minimum of three (3) years’ of experience managing a cash operation is required. Experience developing and leading a sales team is required.

Supervisory Responsibility

    This position will directly supervise employees.

    There are no additional certifications required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
