Summary

PenFed is hiring a Senior Graphic Designer in McLean, VA . The primary purpose of this job is to provide design leadership and marketing support for PenFed’s branding and advertising efforts through design. This experienced leader loves design and understands how to extend brands, campaigns, and style guides across multiple delivery channels. Their creativity and interpersonal skills allow them to effectively lead project teams and own final delivery without direct supervision.

 

Essential Functions

    Collaborate with creative team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience. Execute all visual design stages from sketches, to concept, to final hand-off. Lead Design projects from requirements gathering, to concept, to delivery. Assist in the creation and implement processes around design initiatives. Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks. Key decision maker on the interpretation and extension of the PenFed brand guide. Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders. Lead multiple design projects concurrently and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines. Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards for the team. Support marketing team strategy & logistics, suggest and implement changes as needed. Design marketing collateral for digital, print, and physical distribution, develop campaign creative for multiple platforms. Interact with stakeholders to communicate and understand design goals and consult on direction to address desired customer outcomes.
 

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of four (5) years’ experience in graphic design is required.
  • Ability to lead and mentor junior designers
  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio, proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, excellent visual design skills.  Familiarity with HTML is a bonus
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Up-to-date with the latest design trends, techniques, and technologies
 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will mentor junior designers.
