PenFed is hiring a Network Analyst in Chantilly, VA. The primary purpose of this job is to provide network support to all operations within Pentagon Federal Credit Union including Mainframe, Systems, and Applications. This position also supports multiple datacenters and call centers.

Essential Functions

    Work as part of an operational team to ensure Penfed’s enterprise network is maintain properly by completing daily tasks, updating existing documentations or creating new documentations when requested. Participate in hardware upgrade or replacement as part of end of life cycle. Participate in software upgrade as part of security advisories from vendors or enterprise-wise software upgrade. Perform firewall access rules update as part of problem resolution or project deployment. Troubleshoot and resolve network related problems in a timely manner. Troubleshoot and resolve telecom related problems with vendors. Participate in problem resolution and cause analysis with network engineers and senior network engineers. Assist telecom team with deploying, moving or removing telecom equipment. Assist security engineering team as remote hand when requested. Participate in an on-call rotation during both business and non-business hours. Work during non-production hours or weekend maintenance window to deploy enterprise or member affecting network changes. Deploy and document changes in accordance with problem and change management process. Participate in solutions deployment and network design implementations in a timely manner as part of a deployment team. Run Ethernet cables neatly in service centers, call centers or datacenters.

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or a related field is required. Minimum of three (3) years’ of experience in IT is required. Knowledge with TCP/IP, MPLS, LAN, WAN, and VPN. Experience with EIGRP, BGP, IPSEC, iWAN, VRF, VLAN, VTP, DLSW, STP and netflow a plus. Experience with F5 load balancer a plus. Experience with VMWare a plus. Experience maintaining highly available and highly secure networks preferred. Experience working with SNMP based monitoring tools.
Supervisory Responsibility

    This position will not mentor and supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications

    Cisco certification CCENT required and CCNA preferred
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.


Moderate travel to various worksites is required
