  Lead Automation Test Engineer

Summary

PenFed is hiring a Lead Automation Test Engineer in Tyson’s Corner, VA . The primary purpose of this job is to oversee PenFed’s emerging automation and performance test team. We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic QA Engineer with experience leading teams in test automation. This position will lead the development and maintenance of our automated test script library, and establish automated and performance test engineering approaches to ensure timely delivery of quality systems. This position will also take a primary role in test tool assessment efforts, make tool recommendations, and drive implementation and adoption across the organization. This position will also perform other testing-related duties as required, including working with teams to incorporate new functionality into existing baseline scripts, and performing functional, stress, regression, integration, performance, load and user acceptance testing with test tools in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

 

Essential Functions

    Devise a standard approach and best practice to create and maintain automated test plans,test scripts, test suites, etc. Develop, update and maintain automated and performance testing standards and procedures, and train new and/or junior employees in their adoption. Gather metrics to demonstrate team contributions to project delivery and quality assurance. In collaboration with QA Manager, support overall project test schedules and activities through appropriate allocation of workload and effective resource management. Participate in the interview, selection, training and development of new employees. Develop test plans, test scripts, test conditions, test data and validation techniques. Execute test plans and scripts, and document test results using PenFed IT test tool suites. Collaborate with developers to resolve software defects and negative test results. Act as an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for using PenFed test tool suites, empowering and training QA Analysts and other team members to utilize existing test suites
 

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field is required. Minimum of six to eight (6-8) years of experience in software and systems engineering focusing on the testing phase of SDLC is required. Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience building and maintaining automation frameworks, and mentoring and guiding junior team membersis preferred. Experience testing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), ESB, Web Services, and/or Mobile App is preferred. Functional knowledge of Financial System processes, experience of testing legacy systems, and/or 3rd party system interfaces is preferred.  Competent coding Java and or asp.net to create custom scripting.

    This position will supervise employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
