Summary

PenFed is hiring an Accountant IV, Payroll in Alexandria, VA . The primary purpose of this job is to develop new procedures to enhance the efficiency of processes and ensuring compliance with all related regulations, policies and procedures. This position will work with outside vendors such as 401k administrator and Pension Actuary and will research the application of complex accounting pronouncements and standards.

    Participate in all facets of the daily operations of the Payroll and Benefits department, ensuring the accurate completion of all section duties within established time parameters and in accordance with all related regulations, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws. Prepare, develop, implement, and administer the departmental records, systems and procedures. Oversee, monitor, and quality control the data entry of all the payroll records. Participate in the planning, implementation and administration of programs to develop, adjust, and/or enhance payroll systems and procedures as required, due to changes in tax laws, regulations, and institutional pay policies or compensation initiatives. Plan, coordinate, and oversee the production and distribution of all employee tax statements and notifications as required by law while interacting with external administrators & actuaries. Develop and implement section standards, policies and procedures, notifying staff as appropriate. Provide input to and coordinates changes in Payroll and Benefits systems with appropriate vendors. Participate in the maintenance and implementation of changes to the Payroll and Benefits systems and provides input into the development and changes to other automated Payroll and Benefits systems. Assist NCUA Examiners, external and internal Auditors during periodic examinations and audits.
 

 

Education and Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related field is preferred. Experience with payroll PeopleSoft HR is highly desired. Minimum of five (5) years’ of experience in accounting and payroll reporting is required, PeopleSoft Payroll experience preferred.
 

 

Supervisory Responsibility

    This position may or may not supervise employees.
 

Licenses and Certifications

    There are no additional certifications required.
 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.

 

 

Travel

Limited travel to various worksites is required.
