The Thomas Jefferson (TJ) HS for Science and Technology Partnership Fund has an opening for an Interim Manager of Constituent Outreach, Programs and Partnerships, while the current manager is on maternity leave. The Interim Manager of Constituent Outreach, Programs, and Partnerships is a unique role to support the Partnership Fund’s work to connect with alumni and corporations, as well as to collaborate with school administration on supporting visiting and partner groups’ interest in TJ and its unique educational model.  The position requires working with external constituents, volunteers, development staff, and the FCPS personnel and representatives. TJ has a high profile in the DC Metro area as a feeder school for top innovative universities in the nation. TJ is also seen as an international model on how to educate and excite students in the area of STEM education. The ideal candidate will be able to maximize the impact of such a prestigious reputation, and harness the current policy climate which seeks to emphasize science, technology and innovation in education. The Interim Manager will have multiple areas of responsibility including:

Educational Groups and International Partners. The Interim Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, and hosting, in collaboration with TJ administration, annual visits to and by partner institutions and for maintaining and supporting relationships between visits. The Interim Manager is also responsible for coordinating all deliverables from TJ to the partner institutions after the visit and coordinating the issue of payment to TJ consultants for work that they perform in relation to the partnerships.

Summer Research Institutes.  The Interim Manager will be responsible for coordinating deliverables from educators working at the summer research institutes, as well as working on press outreach surrounding these institutes.  Some scholarship coordination will also be needed with these institutes.  Coordination of visiting international students during the institutes may also be needed.   The Interim Manager will also coordinate a cumulating event to showcase the distinctive summer learning programs, thank the donors, and build awareness of the institute within the community.

Public Relations and Marketing.  The Interim Manager will create marketing and public relations collateral, including but not limited to newsletters, press releases, event invitations, one-page informational handouts, brochures, and webpages.

Event, Outreach, and Office Coordination.  The Interim Manager would assist in coordination of events at TJ in relation with the TJPF office, including but not limited to Summer Research Institute stewardship and prospect events, alumni reunions, Back-to-School Night, and Freshmen Orientation.  The Interim Manager will conduct prospect research on new and existing stakeholders.  The Interim Manager will coordinate reconciliation and follow-up on a summer conference.  The Interim Manager would manage an intern and run the office as needed.

The Partnership Fund seeks a proven self-starter who will use their well-rounded skill set to work across these different platforms.

The position involves occasional travel outside the local area, including possible international travel, and will require regular attendance at after business hour functions. 

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, organizational and research skills, with the ability to express verbally and in written materials key concepts and themes
  • A self-starter who will also leverage and seek guidance from key stakeholders at the Fund and School; ability to self-direct is very important
  • Since this is a temporary role, a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but current undergraduate students would be considered given the right experience.  May be an ideal role for a Master’s student or an undergraduate student with an interest in International Affairs, Non-Profits, and/or International Education.
  • Experience and interest with alumni/constituent relations, program management, public relations, and/or cross cultural educational programs
  • Experience or comfort working in a CRM database (Raiser’s Edge experience preferred) as well as e-communications platforms, such as Constant Contact
