Analyst, Engineer
Full Time
Individual will perform end-to-end analysis of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) supporting the systems engineering process for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Individual will perform BMDS performance analyses utilizing large-scale complex BMDS modeling and simulation (M&S) tools applying discrimination techniques using multi-target tracking with multi-sensor correlation algorithms. Individual will also perform development, updates, and benchmarking/anchoring of BMDS M&S tools, as necessary to support system analysis tasks. This individual will also assist in future architecture roadmap activities requiring an understanding of physical possibilities and limitations especially as it applies to threats, countermeasures and counter countermeasures. Individual will coordinate analysis activities and products with functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks. The individual will document analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to the Missile Defense Agency Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives.

Education Masters Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Qualifications 8-10 years of related engineering experience.

Required Qualifications: Individual must have a technical background in statistical M&S and algorithm development using MATLAB, along with experience with either Python, C, C++, FORTRAN or similar language environment and any of the following: EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, missiles/interceptors, threats, discrimination, detection/tracking or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.). Experience analyzing complicated physics problems using medium- to high-fidelity parametric models/simulations utilizing Monte Carlo techniques to provide insight into performance capabilities of real-world weapon systems. Some experience in concept development associated with complex system of system weapons. Individual must possess good written and oral communication skills to include giving presentations. Capable of working both independently and in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated discrimination experience associated with BMDS or similar experience translatable to discrimination between target sets, especially with radar or EO/IR systems. Comprehensive understanding of sensor and target/scene characteristics and real-world performance expectations is highly desired. Experience with radiometry, signal processing, and modeling kill vehicles are desired. Experience with multivariate statistical analysis, data mining, data fusion, and regression testing are desirable. Experience in some or all of Ballistic missile defense system, Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control (FOM, GFC), C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, counter-countermeasures, or threats. Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems. Demonstrated innovative problem solving
