Job Summary

Westat is seeking a Programmer/Analyst to join an established team that is conducting exploratory data analytics and statistical inference based on large and complex datasets. The Programmer/Analyst will collaborate with different investigators and researchers from a variety of fields, and will work on data management, programming, statistical analysis, visualization, and reporting tasks within several simultaneous research projects.

Job Responsibilities

· Reviewing large datasets for patterns and anomalies;
· Managing Big Data: moving and combining datasets from different platforms; cleaning and aggregating data and quality control; analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting data;
· Creating and documenting derived variables combining data from multiple sources;
· Guided by researchers, applying standard statistical and/or data management software packages to select relevant predictive variables, specify statistical models, and estimate statistical models;
· Developing and maintaining SAS programs, macros, and apps for internal use and to deliver to external clients;
· Computing descriptive and inferential statistics and confidence bounds;
· Generating complex reports;
· Working collaboratively with the project team and communicating effectively;
· Managing project work according to work plan, and for successful completion of project goals within project timeline.

Job Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, quantitative social/life science, or related field;
· 1 year of relevant experience in research.
