Multimedia Technologist, Information Systems Technology - Georgetown University Law Center

The Multimedia Technologist executes media streaming projects for distance learning, faculty courseware sites, special events, administrative programs, and other instructional materials.  S/he provides support for the use of multimedia classrooms and moot courtrooms, as well as regularly scouting related emerging technologies. Reporting to the Director of Audiovisual Services, the Multimedia Technologist has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Sets-up and operates advanced multimedia and audiovisual equipment for classes, conferences, mock trials, panel discussions, oral arguments, mock negotiations, depositions, mock mediations, client interviews, trial practice seminars, moot court teams, examinations, training sessions, special dinners, theater productions, memorial services, dedications and other special events.
  • Provides public address systems and recording of classes, lectures, panel discussions, oral arguments, theater productions, special events and conferences.
  • Provides multimedia support and streaming media support to deans, faculty, staff, students, alumni, public relations, Office of Development, VIP guests and outside clients.
  • Provides broadcast quality multimedia productions for deans, faculty, staff, students, alumni, public relations, Office of Development, VIP guests and outside clients
  • Provides Support Desk Troubleshoot basic software and hardware issues for all clients.
  • Maintains the viability of the video production studio, audiovisual and telecommunications equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 4 years of experience in video production, electronics, computers and/or telecommunications
  • A working knowledge of NTSC Broadcast Standards, telecommunication systems
  • Mastery of the following technologies: Wirecast, Final Cut Pro, Polycom video conferencing systems, Photoshop, QuickTime and Windows Media encoder. Mac and PC proficient. Motion, color, handbrake, Georgetown Box, Dropbox, and Office suite.
  • Knowledge of how to operate and maintain a wide variety of audiovisual, multimedia and television production equipment
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders and scaffolding
  • Working knowledge of safety equipment - for example,  gloves, hearing and eye protection
  • Willingness and availability, dependent on production schedules, to work an evening or weekend  schedule
