Seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with a minimum of 5+ years of data center engineering experience supporting Windows 2008R2 and 2012R2. Significant experience with the installation, configuration, support, operation, and maintenance of VMWare v6.x as well as enterprise class data center system monitoring (eg, BigFix, SolarWinds, etc.).Responsible for driving technical service resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through pre- and post-engineering technical/functional support to end-users. This position is responsible for providing systems engineering support for customers in a federal organization.Coordinates with IT management to formulate highly complex technical solutions. Identifies and implements solutions based on department initiatives. Informs IT management of concerns/contingencies and actively participates in technical planning sessions.Coordinate with Software Development team to troubleshoot and assist with production deploymentAbility to migrate, upgrade, or implement Windows based VMWare environmentEvaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness and compatibility.Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Initiates reviews as appropriate.Conducts capacity planning reviews with management.Assist in the development of strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application.Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate.Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures. Conducts usability and costing studies.Industry certification (CompTIA, MCSE, MCITP, ITIL, etc.)Significant experience with Windows 2008R2-2012R2 Server, SQL Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Patch management, Log management, VMWare, and SolarWindsJob Requirements:Bachelor\s degree in systems engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience working with computer hardware, operating system software and desktop applications with a specific concentration in one or more areasAnalytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of systemsQuickly and effectively diagnose and resolve data center hardware and software issuesDevise effective system monitoring tests using enterprise monitoring toolsIntegrate moderately complex hardware and software systemsDemonstrated knowledge and expertise in the areas listed below:Microsoft Windows 2008R2, 2012R2+Microsoft SQL Server 2008-2014IBM BigFixMicrosoft Active DirectoryMicrosoft Group Policy ObjectsMicrosoft IISVMware v6.xSolarWinds system monitoring or similar enterprise class monitoringHP enterprise class data center server hardwareAdditional preferred experience:Cisco LAN, firewall, VPNHPE 3Par SANMajor hardware and software vendor IT certifications (Microsoft, VMware, HP, CompTIA, ITIL, etc.)
