This position will be the Finance Department's primary representative in planning and coordinating the Johns Hopkins Health System tax compliance with the Internal Revenue Service rules and regulations. This is a senior tax position for a multi-billion dollar not-for-profit healthcare system with significant for-profit arms. The Senior Tax Director must be able to work closely with the JHHS Sr. VP Finance, Treasurer and CFO; the JHHS Controller; all JHHS VP's and CFO's of all JHHS entities and finance directors. Must be able to interact with JHHS Legal, HR, Treasury, Budget and IT Departments, as well as JHUSOM Finance and JHU Tax Department; outside third party tax offices for jointly held ventures. This position is responsible for all federal, state, foreign, payroll tax, returns for over 75 entities, and the production of W-2's for 17 payrolls; all tax provisions for for-profit companies; Fin 48 letters for outside auditors; IRS and state tax audit strategies and negotiations, all misc., state tax reporting obligations and registrations for chartiable fundraising registrations in multiple states. The Senior Tax Director must be able to implement creative strategies in business transactions to minimize current and future tax liabilities and maximize operating revenue; advise on acquisitions, restructing, and debt-financing transactions. Analyzes proposed federal and state tax legislation and Regulations, reporting to senior management on tax accounting implemenations. Reviews various compensation related tax matters and other sensitive taxmatters for both JHHS HR and legal departments. Ensures that Health System has the most effective domestic and international tax structure in place to anticipate future growth, staffs and manages a in house tax group of 7-8 tax professionals who are responsible for advising and resolving all tax matters for each Health System affiliate including but not limited to: All tax planning and compliance aspects of operations;federal and state income tax filings, sales tax filings; use, franchise and personal property tax filings; all federal and state payroll tax payments and tax return filings for 17 payrolls in multiple states. Escheat tax returns in multiple states for each Health System affiliate and all charitable solicitations registrations in multiple states for multiple entities. The Senior Tax Director must be able to work with internal and external tax legal counsel; and outside accountants have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and analytical skills, and is required to be a team leader with great attention to detail.Day Shift Work Pay grade: AE Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree plus one of the following are required; LLM in Tax , Masters in Tax or 15 years experience in the industry.Experience: 10 plus years in Healthcare industry. Excel, Word, tax software such as prosystem.
