Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Decision Support, the Financial Analyst is responsible for performing various financial functions that relate to accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, executive and departmental finance support, and generating the financial reports and assisting with the maintenance of systems that are both used for communicating financial results. The Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing schedules and work papers necessary during the operating and capital budget process and supporting departments with information and analysis to develop an effective budget for the Hospital and Howard Hospital Foundation. The position also assists the Senior Financial Analysts with ensuring budget data properly agrees between EPSi and SAP budgeting modules and supporting the development of the necessary presentations to communicate the budget and obtain the necessary approvals. The Financial Analyst prepares the schedules and work papers necessary to conduct the monthly variance analysis, analyzing and monitoring assigned HCGH expense areas and collaborating with hospital departments and JHHS Regulatory Compliance to analyze and document the monthly revenue and expense variances in a manner that effectively communicates the operating and financial results to the Executive Management Team. The Financial Analyst prepares the schedules and work papers necessary to perform operational and financial analyses to support the management's change-based decision making needs in diagnosing operating activities, business trends and events. This position also assists the Senior Financial Analysts evaluate the impact of proposed alternatives to business operations and provides management with focused analytical data to assist in optimizing market position and efficiency. In addition, the Financial Analyst assists the Senior Financial Analysts in monitoring and making the necessary changes to Cost Accounting, Capital Budgeting, and Productivity systems - to ensure that the data being aggregated and reported within or from those modules accurately reflects the financial results of the hospital operations and routinely reconciles the modules to core financial systems to test the accuracy. 32 hours per week Day Shift 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Work 1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. 2. Minimum of three (3) years of Maryland healthcare accounting or finance experience or commensurate experience.
