Requisition Number 16-0160 Post Date 11/21/2016 Title Staff Auditor City Herndon State VA Description The Internal Auditor performs operational, financial, information systems or regulatory compliance audit procedures under the guidance of supervisors in Internal Audit.Duties and Responsibilities- Undertakes analysis of varied reports containing financial and non-financial data and member and or employee sensitive information, evaluating the results and formally reporting to the Internal Audit supervisors, and appropriate business area management- Surveys functions in assigned areas to determine the nature of operations, systems or regulatory activities and the adequacy of the systems of internal controls- Assists the supervisors in determining the critical areas to be examined- Assists the supervisors in planning the approach and scope of the audit, including statistical sampling and automated audit assistance using generalized audit software- Contributes to the preparation of audit planning document and risk assessment matrices as requested by the supervisors- Performs audit work, as directed by the supervisors, in a professional manner and in accordance with Departmental standards and the approved audit program- Assists in performing audit monitoring activities- Notifies the supervisors of identified problems or audit concerns and suggests solutions- Assembles and maintains work papers in accordance with Departmental standards- Obtains, reviews and analyzes evidential matter as a basis for the formulation of an objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the internal controls over the operation, system or regulatory area examined- Assists the supervisors in appraising the adequacy of corrective action planned or taken by management as a result of audit findings and recommendations- May function in an in-charge capacity, as circumstances dictate- Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time-to-timeDelivers outstanding service that meets the Service Excellence Policy and delivers on our Service Promises:o We promise to place our members firsto We promise to take ownership of your requesto We promise to get it right the first timeo We promise to be a trustworthy guide to your improved financial well-beingo We promise to treat you with respecto We promise to protect the confidentiality of your financial informationo We promise to thank you for your businesso We promise to support and participate in our communities- Knowledgeable of the Credit Uniona€ (TM) s products and services- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). Requirements The Staff Auditor should possess:o Good interpersonal and organizational skillso Good analytical ability and judgmento The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written reportso The ability to successfully complete audit work assignedo A working knowledge of auditing practices and accounting, informational systems and/or regulatory matters as appropriate to the situation or assignmento The ability to complete assignments amidst stringent time and date deadlineso The ability to work under the supervision of a Senior Auditor, Audit Manager and Director of Internal Audito The ability to develop and maintain working relationships and deal effectively with Credit Union personnel including frequent interaction with middle managemento The ability to commute (or travel, as circumstances warrant), using personal transportation or other means, between any of the locations in which the Credit Union or its subsidiaries does business.Experience o Experience ranging from recent college graduate to two year experience in auditing, accounting or a related business.Education and CertificationsCertifications: Progress toward obtaining professional certification (ie CIA, CPA, CFE, CISA, IAP, etc.).Experience: Experience ranging from recent college graduate to two year experience in auditing, accounting or a related business.Education: A college degree with emphasis in accounting, business or management information systems.SKILLSKnowledge of data analytic tools (ie ACL, IDEA) considered a plus.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSAll positions require US citizenship and a Federal Government Security Clearance.
