Requisition Number 17-0030 Post Date 3/3/2017 Title Items Processing Specialist City Herndon State VA Description JOB OVERVIEW:The primary role of this position is to assist Northwest Federal Credit Union to live out our vision to be the lifetime financial partner for our member-owners. This position is responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members. A key component of this service to external members is to ensure each employee identifies membersa€ (TM) financial needs and suggests appropriate Credit Union solutions.The Items Processing Clerk analyzes and prepares daily cash letters generated through the daily processes to include In-House check clearing, Branch and ATM deposits, Returned checks, and Incoming Mail payments, and deposits; reconciles all processed work to be in balance with the daily Accounting and Federal Reserve totals; operates the Unisys NDP600 computer equipment loaded with ProfitStars check processing software to encode and image all check documents; resolves both Federal Reserve account inquiries and member account adjustments.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Deliver outstanding service that delivers on our Service Promises.- Meet or exceed the service goals for the position.- Knowledge of the Credit Uniona€ (TM) s products and services.- Complete BVS classes as assigned.- Maintain department policy and procedure documentation accordingly.- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).Process all Branch, ATM, and mailed deposits and payments daily.- Sort incoming mail and cross reference items accordingly- Accurately post all deposits and loan payments (between $2 and $4 million daily) through Episys core system, Interactive Teller Capture (ITC), and Remit Plus track systems within required daily deadlines- Process posting exceptions daily and make necessary adjustments to the core financial system for accurate postingProcess all items for in-house check clearing.- Prepare, process, and reconcile over $4 million in Credit Union in-house checks received from the Federal Reserve and other financial institutions, meeting required daily deadlinesProcess all returned checks within mandated timelines.- Prepare, process, and reconcile all Credit Union checks that are to be returned to the Federal Reserve due to insufficient available funds, meeting required daily deadlines.- Document returns in the Synapsys CRM system and send written notification to membersProcess Cash Letters to and from the Federal Reserve - Reconcile and forward all daily incoming Cash Letters for in-house check clearings and outgoing Cash Letters for branch deposits to the Finance Department and the Federal Reserve within specified deadlinesMaintain General Ledger reconciliation logs for Accounting.- Create and download daily General Ledger reconciliation vouchers in Excel for Accounting- Analyze all related reports for exceptions on each of the various processes to determine if adjustments are necessaryPrepare any necessary check adjustments to the Federal Reserve. Perform account research and fulfill statement, check copy, and research requests made by members.- Respond to member inquiries regarding items processed, account analysis, stop payments, encoding errors, check copies, and other miscellaneous information as needed in a timely manner- Use reasoning to quote an appropriate amount of hours to charge for research, if necessary, in accordance with the Credit Uniona€ (TM) s current Fee Schedule- Document all research and measures taken in the Synapsys CRM system- Disposition all Synapsys events appropriately- Respond directly to members when necessary Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Excellent verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills needed.1 year credit union/banking experience required or experience in a similar role. SKILLS:PC skills include ability to use Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word, as well is Internet Explorer.- Strong written and verbal communication skills- Keen attention to detailLANGUAGE SKILLS:Language skills require the ability to interpret all requests using effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Mathematical skills include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and effectively use a 10 key calculator.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.WORK ENVIRONMENT:Ability to function in a financial institution and/or branch environment and utilize standard office equipment, including but not limited to PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:All positions require US citizenship and a Federal Government Security Clearance.Those with an active security clearance are encouraged to apply; NWFCU will sponsor the clearance process for qualified applicants.
