Laitram, LLC Job Announcement Division: Intralox Position: Electrical Controls Engineer (Mid-Level) Date Posted: 01/03/2017 Location: Baltimore, MD Description:Intralox, LLC, the world leader in conveyor equipment solutions utilizing modular plastic conveyor belts, has a position available for an Electrical Controls Engineer on our Postal Team in Savage, MD office.The Postal Integration Team specializes in turnkey material handling solutions for the postal industry. The team works closely with our customers determining their needs and then designing, engineering, manufacturing, installing, commissioning, training and supporting conveyance and sortation solutions. The desired candidate will have a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude with a willingness to both design and perform field work. The Electrical Controls Engineer designs, develops, and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems and equipment. This position is responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. To learn more, visit www.intralox.com Responsibilities: .A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in day to day work. .Performs a variety of complicated engineering tasks. .May be assigned small to medium sized projects to accomplish independently .May work closely with and direct CAD operators and field technicians to complete projects .Independently designs in CAD electrical control panel layouts, bills of materials and schematics. .Estimates electrical cost budgets per project or proposal scope. .Independently program PLCa€ (TM) s for control systems that include field devices such as photoeyes, shaft encoders, barcode scanners, solenoids, scales, etc. .Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. .Leads project commissioning and troubleshooting of field installations .Leads creation of documentation and training materials. .Has detailed knowledge of commonly-used controls engineering concepts, codes, practices, and procedures. .Relies on and creates instructions and establishes guidelines to perform the functions of the job. .Reports to a manager Requirements: .Four year degree in Engineering .4-8 years in the field or related experiences .AutoCAD or similar experience .Proficient at working from electrical schematics and mechanical drawings .Proficient at using manufacturer data sheets and applying them in practice .Proficient in configuring PLCa€ (TM) s, HMIa€ (TM) s, computers, networks, cameras and variable frequency drives which are used to control sorters, conveyors, and other related equipment. .Proficient in developing electrical documentation packages, descriptions of operations, interfaces between systems, and on-site during startup to coordinate and help resolve issues. .Effective communication (verbal and written) and relationship skills with engineering groups, customers, suppliers and subcontractors. .A self-managed individual who is a team player. .Able to travel (30%), work weekends, holidays and overtime when required.
