Software QA Sr Manager

Software QA SR Manager DESCRIPTION\: The Software QA SR Manager, a senior functional manager, is competent to work on large complex projects within the transportation industry and applies knowledge of software testing and analysis concepts, practices and procedures. Requires experience in all phases of software development life cycle and testing methodologies and business rhythm processes. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\: Manages the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results, including costs, methods, and staffing. Direct management responsibilities for the test organization for CAT (Customer Acceptance Test) testing. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s). Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements, and budget responsibilities. Frequently interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team. Develop, implement, and maintain standard Quality Assurance methodologies and practices. Develop, implement, communicate, and maintain plan to bring quality assurance process into compliance with Industry best practices. Provides leadership on the development of the system acceptance test strategy, plan and results reports templates and structure. Ensures there is regular and effective communication between the test team and the engineering, development, and integration teams. Identifies, communicates and aids in the development of contingencies and mitigations for risks related to the project. Provides leadership and management for the delivery of the test deliverables. Works with the Project Director to establish staffing needs, identify candidates and fill positions. Partners with other Project Managers to continually review and improve processes; use relationship with other PM s as a vehicle to foster and strengthen teamwork across the project. Monitors and enforces project standards and best practices as they relate to status reports, risk management, issue tracking, work plan management, and time reporting. Assists with leadership and management with the development of project standards. Monitors team activities according to the project work plan to ensure tasks are completed on time, within budget and according to project standards. Participates in and owns the earn value management planning and monitoring for the test team. Reports status and metrics of all activities to upper management on a timely and regular basis. Creates human resource performance reviews for team members. Identifies, understands and follows-up on staff objectives and aspirations. Facilitates staff development through training (structured and unstructured) and mentoring. Identifies and develop potential leaders within the team. Effectively and discretely handles situations where performance improvement is necessary. Completes special assignments and other relevant duties as assigned to ensure a successful completion of the project. EDUCATION AND TYPICAL YEARS OF EXPERIENCE\: A BA / BS degree in computer science or a related field. Ten years of experience in quality assurance with at least five years of experience in a management capacity. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS\: Experience managing medium to large QA teams in a fast paced work environment. Demonstrated commitment to implementation and enforcement of standard Quality Assurance methodologies and procedures Strong verbal and written communication skills. Communicate clearly, openly and often within the company s programs and customers to eliminate surprises and build trust Knowledge of software development, testing, and release processes, SDLC Experience building and managing to EVM models and justifying cost variances Experience with issue and risk mitigation tracking Ability to meet all program milestones from requirements review thru Customer acceptance and Go Live Experience delivering quality products and meeting financial commitments Ability and experience driving innovations which improve overall efficiencies Understand the customers environment and be responsive to their unique and dynamic needs Build organizational talent and require Knowledge Transfer Communicate clearly, openly and often within our programs and with our customers to eliminate surprises and build trust Promote a culture of teamwork, respect, diversity, idea sharing and innovation Demonstrate ethical behavior in executing our day to day business and strategy PREFERRED / DESIRED\: Previous work in Transportation public sector.
