LCG is seeking an Windows Systems Engineer with a minimum of 5+ years of data center engineering experience supporting Windows 2003 and 2008. Significant experience with the installation, configuration, support, operation, and maintenance of VMWare v5.x as well as enterprise class data center system monitoring (eg, SCCM, BigFix, Solar Winds, etc.). Responsibilities: o Responsible for driving technical service resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through pre- and post-engineering technical/functional support to end-users. This position is responsible for providing systems engineering support for customers in a federal organization. o Acts as a lead issue resolution engineer and takes ownership of all assigned tickets and tasks. o Coordinates with IT management to formulate highly complex technical solutions. Identifies and implements solutions based on department initiatives. Informs IT management of concerns/contingencies and actively participates in technical planning sessions. o Coordinate with Software Development team to a\troubleshoot and assist with production deployment o Ability to migrate, upgrade or implement Windows based VMWare environment o Evaluates products and upgrades for appropriateness and compatibility. o Develops and analyzes highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance. Initiates reviews as appropriate. o Conducts capacity planning reviews with management. o Assist in the development of strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application. o Monitors database maintenance and provides appropriate recommendations, when required. Implements solutions and refines procedures as appropriate. o Coordinates with business development personnel on proposals and work estimates involving highly complex system administration projects and solutions. o Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures. Conducts usability and costing studies. o Industry certification (CompTIA, MCSE, MCITP, ITIL, etc.) o Significant experience with Windows 2003 - 2008 Server, SQL Servers, Active Directory, Group Policies, Patch management, Log management, WSUS, SCCM, VMWare, SolarWinds Job Requirements: o Bachelor\s degree in systems engineering, computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience o Experience working with computer hardware, operating system software and desktop applications with a specific concentration in one or more areas o Analytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of systems o Quickly and effectively diagnose and resolve data center hardware and software issues o Devise effective system monitoring tests using enterprise monitoring tools o Integrate moderately complex hardware and software systems Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the areas listed below: o Microsoft Windows 2003, 2008+ o Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008+ o Microsoft Windows Clustering o Microsoft SCCM o BigFix o Microsoft Active Directory o Microsoft Group Policy Objects o Microsoft IIS o VMware v5.x o SolarWinds system monitoring or similar enterprise class monitoring o HP or Dell enterprise class data center server hardware Additional preferred experience: o Cisco LAN, WAN, SAN, firewall, VPN o HP SAN o Major hardware and software vendor IT certifications (Microsoft, VMware, HP, CompTIA, ITIL, etc.).
