The Oncology Data Manager will direct, coordinate, organize, and control the daily operations and personnel in the Cancer Registry section of the Health Information Management Department with minimal supervision of the department director. Responsible for maintaining the cancer registry database. Conducts the hiring, training and supervision of all registry staff members and volunteers. Provides data analysis and statistical reports, disseminates information and assists clinicians, researchers, and administrators in improving oncology patients' outcomes. Ensures Cancer Program compliance with mandatory accreditation standards of the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Ensures oncology patient data integrity through complete, timely, and accurate collection of processing of all eligible oncology cases at Howard County General Hospital. Assists with the planning and ongoing implementation of the Cancer Program. Work requires internal contacts outside the work group to resolve mutual problems and collaborate on work procedures. Responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service with internal contacts is maintained. Contact with external contacts is for ongoing service, handling of routine transactions, and providing detailed information about a selected service or capability. Job functions as the leader of a work group. Serves as a problem solving resource to others generally performing the same as those in the work group. 40 hours per week Day Shift 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM Work Knowledge of ACoS guidelines and computerized registry systems required. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, statistics, coding, basic computer and management skills are required. Bachelor's degree in allied health field preferred.
