Grant Thornton is seeking a Manager to join its Financial Management Advisory and Assurance service line and take an active role in engagement execution, project management and key business development activities.Grant Thorntona€ (TM) s Global Public Sector helps executives and managers at all levels of government maximize performance and efficiency in the face of ever tightening budgets and increased demand for services. As part of our team, the Manager will utilize various methodologies and models to execute client projects.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Serves as the subject matter expert and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the Department of Defense (DoD) financial/audit functional area.The ideal candidate will provide technical knowledge and analytic capability across business processes involving accounting, transaction and payment services, enterprise finance and management, and budget and contract auditing services. Provide experienced audit and accounting resources to support Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) related business transformation projects.In this position, the DoD Financial Management and Audit SME shall perform analysis of the DoD financial management portfolio to improve the effectiveness of management support functions across Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and DoD.The DoD Financial Management and Audit SME shall be a CPA and recognized expert in accounting, audit, transaction and payment services, enterprise finance and management, budget and contract audit services.The range of assigned tasks are not restricted to those identified below, management may assign additional duties and responsibilities at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.Assessing audit findings to prioritize key, systemic impediments to DoDa€ (TM) s ability to achieve auditability.Applying audit and accounting best practices to DoD.Conducting requirements analysis of DoD financial reporting to include Standard Financial Information System (SFIS), Standard Line of Accounting (SLOA), and United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL).Developing project management dashboards, analysis recommendations and reports that highlight performance issues, dependencies, risks and cross-cutting audit initiatives across all FIAR plans.Providing audit and accounting subject matter expertise to work directly with project teams within across DoD to effectively apply audit and accounting best practices on selected projects.Providing financial reporting and SFIS/USSGL requirements analysis in support of Performance Reference Model, Business Reference Model, Service Component Reference Model, and Data and Information Reference Model activities.Provide project management analysis of performance, dependencies, risks and cross-cutting audit initiatives across all FIAR plans.Provide routine FIAR IMS project updates to the FIAR milBook site.Perform engagement management responsibilities, including performance reviews, task delegation, project scheduling, project financials, quality review and client management.Meet or exceed sales targets for new and follow-on work.Manage business development activities, such as proposals, capture, account teams, whitepapers, conferences, and/or other thought leadership materials.Meet or exceed targeted billing hours (utilization).Act as performance manager (coach) for up to four coachees outside of engagement responsibilities.Interview campus and/or experienced candidates.Strategic Thinking - Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals; Understands organization's strengths & weaknesses; Adapts strategy to changing conditionAnalytical - Synthesizes complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data.Customer Service - Demonstrates ability to deliver excellence by taking personal accountability for achieving high quality outcomes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis in Word, Excel, Outlook, and on-line search engines required.Bachelora€ (TM) s Degree required from an accredited college or university in a related field. Ability to obtain and maintain certain job-related certifications if no job-related advanced degrees.U.S. citizenship may be required.
