Job DescriptionPress SecretaryImmigration Reform Law InstituteThe Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) is a non-partisan, national public interest law firm dedicated to achieving responsible immigration policies, which includes limiting overall legal immigration and discouraging illegal immigration. IRLI's boutique-sized staff and expertise in immigration law enables it to offer premier legal services to individuals, organizations, and government officials in federal and state courts and before government agencies. IRLI is seeking a Press Secretary. The individual in this position, under the supervision of the Executive Director, is the primary contact for all media inquiries. The press secretary will provide research data on request and assist in writing press releases, engage the public via social media techniques (eg, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), update IRLI's website with program content, evaluate and oversee all media vendor relationships, and develop media strategies to inform the public about key issues. The ideal candidate must want to work in this complex area of the law and share our desire to help advance the emerging field. This position is located in IRLI's headquarters in Washington, DC. It is a full-time, non-exempt position. Some travel and occasional weekend work is required. IRLI offers generous benefits; salary is commensurate with experience.QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:College graduate with a degree in journalism, PR, communications or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise.Individual must possess a minimum of 2 years combined communications experience.Must be able to work well under pressure and respond to numerous media outlets timely and effectively.Must be a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple priorities.Knowledge of immigration issues and policies desired.Before applying, please visit our website at www.irli.org and learn more about IRLI's mission.
