Visa Status:Perm Resident/Citizen onlyOverview:Transaction Network Services Inc has an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact and lasting impression with our customers. The Customer Installation Technician will be engaged in test & acceptance of circuits, as well as activation of various device types for new and existing customers, from a state of the art office location. The Technician will also be involved in providing support for internal TNS teams, as well as customers who are in the process of activating service. We are looking for someone who meets the qualifications below, can operate in a fast paced environment and wants to grow their skill-set. *CBResponsibilities:Installs, maintains, tests, and troubleshoots customer equipment and circuits.Work with telephone companies to turn up circuits. Circuits include but not limited to: leased line DS0, DS1, DS1 hubs, DS3, DS3 hubs, OC3+, Ethernet, Frame Relay, DSL, ISDN, VPN, MPLS.Works with customers to install routers and auxiliary equipment (including cabling and demarcation extensions), and works closely with Field Technicians on equipment installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.Has a firm understanding of Remedy and Visionael databases, and updates Remedy and DSX sheets completely and clearly in a timely manner.Performs third-level troubleshooting and escalates installation issues.Works closely with internal groups such as Sales Support, Logistics, and the NCC to assist in solving problems, and communicates back to the various groups and/or customer as appropriate.Identifies high-level issues, and works closely with TSG, IP Implementations, Development and Engineering through to solution.Proactively identifies problems and solutions and presents to group and supervisor.Demonstrates leadership and acts as a mentor within the group.Able to step in for supervisor and effectively assign work and lead group in supervisor's absence.Manages escalations internally and externallyContributes to process improvement and offers suggestions and ideas.Assists with training and knowledge share with other technicians.Creates documentation for new processes and procedures.Qualifications: Works under limited supervision and effectively demonstrates the ability to use independent judgment regularly in performance of job responsibilities. Demonstrates experience in working concurrently on several reasonably complex assignments with minimal guidance. Has hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of Cisco and Juniper command line configuration. Understands TCP/IP. Understanding of VPN tunnel concepts and troubleshooting. Basic understanding of Linux operating systems. Understands broadband solutions and processes. Takes the initiative to resolve problems in a timely manner. Effectively communicates information verbally and in writing in a clear and coherent manner. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a variety of responsibilities at the same time. Position requires 2-4 years network installation or network operations experience. A Bachelor degree is a plus.
