Management of the physical infrastructure of the data center, its design and capacity limitations. Also responsible for managing onsite and remote staff consisting of 4-5 full time employees or contractors.Participates in public cloud research initiatives. Assumes leadership role in the adoption, configuration and maintenance of public cloud infrastructure.Tracks data center capacity metrics for physical space, available power/circuits, HVAC, server rack space, MDF/ports. Researches and recommends new technology solutions to maximize data center operating effectiveness. Leads data center infrastructure projects for new technology implementations and upgrades.Manages and /or coordinates all installations of hardware for the site including relocation of equipment within existing site and across the enterprise. Provides oversight, and coordinates the activities of third party vendors. Prioritizes then directs workflow, utilizing resources effectively to meet project schedules.Possesses a holistic understanding of data center operations and is familiar with functional operations of servers, storage devices, tape management systems, network gear, and structured cable/fiber layouts.Accountable to oversee the submission, production and maintenance of well-written Operational and Technical documentation, as it relates to datacenter operations.Provide staff development: Development plans, staff evaluations; Perform knowledge transfer, mentoring, and coaching for data center personnel. Manage Data Center personnel to ensure effective system administration, maintenance, performance, availability, and project/upgrade completion. Coordinate with management, business units and user communities to ensure necessary computing resources are in place. Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science, Technology or a related field, or a total of at least 13 years' experience in Technology and Datacenter Operations8+ years' experience in Datacenter OperationsExperience with Dell and HP server systems, Emulex, EMC and Juniper network equipment required.A thorough knowledge of all phases of computer operations, computer hardware, networking concepts, topologies and protocols. Competence in data center cooling and power.Competence in Linux, Windows and VMWare systems administration.Experience in public cloud adoption, governance, configuration and maintenance.Project management experience and strong communications including the ability to effectively communicate technical material to non-technical audiences.
