POSITION OVERVIEWA rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com, is seeking an ambitious, talented, mid-level RF Design Engineer. Very few small companies innovate and develop across such a broad range of technologies as Alarm.com.The Device Engineer position is ideal for candidates who want to work with technologies such as cellular networks (CDMA, GSM, 3G, LTE) and mesh/star sub-Ghz networks. Opportunities include both the design of cutting edge antennas across a range of platforms and enclosures and testing/tuning of existing hardware for optimizing performance in challenging environments.RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and design antennas for life safety systems and components in a challenging global marketWork closely with electronic design engineer on hardware design to optimize RF performance of the overall system designResearch and identify the cause of RF deficiencies in both Alarm.com and partner products to initiate corrective actions and effectively resolve them in a timely fashionDesign antennas to work in constrained and low power environments and in challenging enclosures/environments to meet specifications, schedule, and efficient operationCollaborate with and present/teach technical information to hardware, software, research, manufacturing, marketing, compliance, and quality group members within and outside of project teamOperate independently but working with the senior management to understand and be fully aligned with company goals and strategiesBuild and augment existing RF systems and test equipment to optimize and reduce manual testing time.Help to build and maintain the Alarm.com RF standard and perform ongoing improvements and testing of products to this standard.Responsible for both certification pre-testing and working with certification labs for FCC, CE, and IC certification.CANDIDATE PROFILEBachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a similar technical discipline; or, equivalent demonstrable experience is required Master of Science degree preferred5+ years of RF engineering experience including antenna design and evaluation; development of a variety of consumer electronic products while taking increasing responsibility for analysis, design, implementation, and deployment tasksHighly skilled in RF R&D designKnowledgeable and forward-thinking regarding technologies and developments in RF design and testing with short and long-range wireless communicationRigorous attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability, and quality of productsLeadership experience with the ability to motivate others and build consensusOrganized with strong communication skills and a customer service mentalityAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a small, fast-paced environmentBONUS POINTS FOR:Previous experience in working with cellular and local area radios (Zwave, etc) , home automation protocols, and testing equipment automationPrevious experience working with FCC/CE/IC certification labs or pre-testingPrevious work experience in RF Planning & Optimization for GSM, UMTS, and LTEWHY WORK FOR ALARM.COM?Collaborate with outstanding people: We hire only the best.
