POSITION OVERVIEWThe Cloud Systems Engineer collaborates with the Cloud Architecture team in the implementation and operation of Alarm.coms data center infrastructure. This position works closely with the Network Operations, Software Engineering and Quality Engineering teams in meeting and exceeding Alarm.coms internal and external SLAs around availability, security, recoverability and compliance. This includes monitoring, validating changes, gathering and reporting metrics, testing, incident management, and change management.RESPONSIBILITIES The Cloud Systems Engineers primary job responsibilities will include:Implementing both bare metal and virtualized SaaS solutionsMonitoring, maintaining and updating hardened configurations and baselinesImplementing global availability and performance monitoring frameworksImplementing and testing system level High Availability and Disaster Recovery plansTracking, controlling, and reporting status of system level, software, documentation, and infrastructure changes to managementTroubleshooting operations issues across the infrastructure and operationsDeveloping required scripts or codes to automate and integrate centralized infrastructure managementProviding high quality support to customers, prospects, management and engineeringREQUIREMENTSBA/BS in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or related field2+ years relevant work experience in virtualization, SAN and networkingFamiliar with data center operationsBasic understanding of converged infrastructures and how the stack operatesExperience supporting multi-active and hot-hot architectures is highly desirableWorking knowledge of Windows Server operating systems is a mustLinux server experience is desirable.Hands on usage of VMware product suites a plus; vSphere, Horizon View, vRealizeEntry level understand of NAS and SAN based storage solutions.Experience designing and implementing monitoring frameworks both commercial and open source.Familiar with multi-tiered escalation and on call proceduresExperience implementing scripts for automation and systems management: Powershell, bash, JavascriptRelevant certification accreditations on the different components of the Cloud is highly desirable: Network (Cisco, SourceFire, F5 Networks), Compute (Dell, Cisco UCS), Virtualization (VMWare, HyperV) and Storage (NetApp, EMC)Hands-on experience assisting Engineering and Quality Assurance with deployment issues related to the different classes of environments that comprise the infrastructureAbility to work both collaboratively within a team environmentSelf- directed approach with high degree of initiative to investigate and resolve issuesWHY WORK FOR ALARM.COM?Collaborate with outstanding people: We hire only the best.
