Venable LLP is seeking an IT Security Auditor to join our growing Information Technology team in the Baltimore office. The IT Security Auditor will be responsible for reviewing and responding to client requested information security assessments, information security questionnaires, and outside counsel guidelines; auditing implemented IT security controls and submitting reports on security deficiencies; and assisting in the standardization of policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be responsible for Developing methods to monitor and measure risk, compliance, and assurance efforts Monitoring and evaluating a system's compliance with information technology (IT) security, resilience, and dependability requirements Performing validation steps, comparing actual results with expected results and analyzing the differences to identify impact and risks Providing recommendations for possible improvements and upgrades Reviewing or conducting audits of information technology (IT) programs and projects Developing and implementing IT security independent audit processes for application software/networks/systems Designing audit procedures to assess IT security controls and meet audit objectives Providing input to policy and procedure changes based on audit recommendations and outcomes Creating audit reports to effectively communicate if IT systems are compliant with appropriate firm policies, industry standards, government regulations, and contractual requirementsThe successful candidate will demonstrate Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Assurance, Business, or equivalent combination of related work experience and education 3-5 years of experience performing IT security audit functions Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies Knowledge of risk management processes (eg, methods for assessing and mitigating risk) Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to IT security Knowledge of IT security principles Knowledge of IT security threats and vulnerabilities Knowledge of IT security principles used to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information or data Skill in determining how a security system should work (including its resilience and dependability capabilities) and how changes in conditions, operations, or the environment will affect these outcomes Skill in conducting audits or reviews of technical systems Strong focus on client service and responsiveness to external and internal involved parties Effective verbal and written communication skills to compose outgoing notifications, technology communications, and executive level reporting and summaries Ability to work in a consultative manner If you have a can-do attitude and are looking to be part of a highly motivated team of individuals that are naturally ambitious and driven, we d love to hear from you.
