Program Coordinator, Department of Economics - Georgetown College

The Program Coordinator assists the Department Chair with the fiscal transactions of the Masters Programs and other requirements, and assists in the wide range of administrative requirements of the department's Masters Programs and Undergraduate Studies.  The Program Coordinator also monitors and maintains the Economics website and associated social media.  The Program Coordinator reports to the Department Chair, the Director of Undergraduate Studies, and the Director of the Masters Programs in duties that include but are not limited to:

Department Chair

  • Handles financial matters in the Masters Programs.
  • Assists in set up of economics conferences - such as PECO Conference.
  • Assists with special projects

Director of Undergraduate Studies

  • Administers course scheduling for undergraduate, Masters and graduate students.
  • Advises students in such matters as seeking signatures for approval of courses taken elsewhere, major and minor declaration, honors credits, and senior seminar credits.
  • Works with the College and Provost to hire adjuncts.
  • Serves as Coordinator for all undergraduate Teaching Assistants (TAs), including all GMS activity for TAs - including timekeeping and hiring.
  • Hires, supervises, and time keeps for all work study students.
  • Coordinates with the Registrar for room assignments and special requests.
  • Keeps current with the requirements for the undergraduate economics major, the School of Foreign Service economics concentration, and political economy major.
  • Participates in Undergraduate Committee meetings.
  • Coordinate summer school teaching with the graduate students and summer school.
  • Monitors and maintains the economic website and associated social media.

Director of the Masters Programs

  • Administers all budgetary duties for 3 MA programs.
  • Assists with development of new MA programs.
  • Advises Master's student's regarding requirement s for the degree.
  • Works with the College and Provost to hire adjuncts.
  • Handles the administration of program-interacts with Masters Programs committee, GU Faculty and adjuncts; and manages list of students and graduate school.
  • Administers course scheduling.
  • Handles administrative interactions with the Graduate School, maintains all administrative records for the Masters Programs, monitors students' academic progress, informs Master's students regarding academic administrative matters, and disseminates promotional material for Masters Programs.
  • Monitors and maintains the economic website as well as associated social media.
  • Assists with admissions and coordinates application review.


  • High school diploma or certified equivalency - Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 2 - 3 years of administrative experience, preferably in an academic setting
  • Time management and multi-tasking ability
  • Proficiency in web management, excellent written and verbal communications, detail orientation, and ability to work independently as well as a team
