Inspects site construction and un-permitted land disturbance and resource protection area violations to ensure conformance with Fairfax County's standards and land development regulations. Serves as the Land Development Services representative on construction sites. Communicates development regulations to contractors, developers, engineers, other governmental agencies, and citizens. Issues written notices of violation of county codes that pertain to land-disturbing activities and regulations enforced by Land Development Services. Provides legal testimony in court regarding land-disturbing activities and development projects in Fairfax County. Monitors the status of the development agreements with Fairfax County and evaluates the status of bonded improvements. Performs related duties as required.
Under the supervision Code Specialist III and Branch Chief of the Land Disturbance and Post Occupancy Branch, Land Development Services.
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school or a GED; and three years of construction experience, preferably in the inspection field.
Experience and the ability to read and interpret construction plans to ensure compliance with Fairfax County Codes and regulations. Knowledge of environmental protection and conservation practices. Experience in the enforcement of land disturbance, Chesapeake Bay Ordinance, and Stormwater Management Ordinance and regulations. Knowledge of court proceedings.
Possession of a valid Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector Certification or the ability to obtain same within 18 months of appointment date is required.
Completion of the first required training class (Basic Storm Water Management in Virginia) within six months of appointment and possession of a valid Storm Water Management Project Inspector certification within 24 months from the date of completion of the first required training class is required.
A valid driver's license.
With or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance; walk/traverse rough, icy, broken terrain; go up and down steep hills and slopes. Ability to work in extreme temperatures.

The appointee of this position will be required to complete a criminal background check and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Panel interview and may include a written exercise.
