Senior Engineer III
Works as part of the Building Design Branch to provide project management for a wide variety of capital improvement projects, such as fire and rescue stations, libraries, police stations. Includes the design and construction of new facilities and renovations, feasibility studies, and other duties as assigned. Manages assigned building projects from concepts through project close-out. Manages and negotiates professional architectural and engineering design contracts, reviews design plans and specifications, and assures projects are executed within established budgets and schedules. Assists with land acquisition of properties for public use. Coordinates using agency requirements into the design of county building projects.Employment Standards
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to: graduation from a four-year college or university accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technologies with a bachelor's degree in the appropriate engineering or architectural field; and four years of progressively responsible professional experience in the appropriate engineering field.
Progressive project management experience including planning, scope and budget development, site assessment and coordinating land acquisition, consultant selection, negotiations and contract management, design and quality control, and construction administration. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience with both public and internal presentations to various audiences. Knowledge of local, federal, and state building and site development codes. Information technology skills including use of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Proven experience in collaboration and teambuilding with various groups. Experience with financial and budgetary planning at the project and program level. Experience with quality assurance, value engineering, sustainable development, and safety training and awareness.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
A valid driver's license is required.
Possession of a valid Virginia professional engineer or architect license. An individual who possesses a valid professional engineer or architect license in another state will be granted a temporary exemption to this requirement pending the Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers & Landscape Architects decision regarding that individual's application for reciprocity.
