Identifies and investigates priority STD/HIV cases to prevent and control the spread of sexually transmitted diseases according to state guidelines. Performs field investigation of priority STD/HIV cases to identify all at-risk partners according to state guidelines, provides staff support and epidemiological direction for five county STD clinics, and provides education, information and guidance to health department staff, hospitals, laboratories, physicians and other community health providers in the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted disease.

Employment Standards EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in health education, human services, or a directly related field; plus one year of experience in communicable and/or chronic disease education, investigation or other types of health-related work involving considerable public contact.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver's license
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a driving record, a Child Protective Services Registry, and a check with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) to the satisfaction of the employer. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. Ability to drive a vehicle. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. All duties perform with or without reasonable accommodations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of public health principles and practices of epidemiology, growth and development. Ability to plan, develop and/or deliver health education materials to specific target populations. Experience working independently. Must communicate effectively through the use of verbal, written and electronic means.
