Adapted Physical Education/Health Teacher
The mission of the Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Adaptive Physical Education (APE) department is to work collaboratively to promote full participation and engagement in daily routines, classroom activities, community outings, and recreation and leisure pursuits for all students. The department strives to facilitate healthy interactions, developmental and academic growth, personal success and well –being in order to lead independent and fulfilling lives as productive members of their communities.
The department currently seeks candidates for the Adapted Physical Education/Health Teacher position. This position is responsible for providing physical education classes to all students, as well as high school credit health classes. Additionally, APE teachers create personal fitness programs for students and supervise the implementation of these programs in the fitness room.
Qualified candidates must be certified as a Maryland Physical Education Teacher and a Maryland Health Teacher or eligible for certification. School-based experience working with students with multiple disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder and familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is required.
