Health Informatics Specialist
The Defense Health Agency, National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR-MD) is the future of Military Medicine- a partnership in World Class Medical Healthcare. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Dilorenzo Clinic and the Joint Pathology Center, provide world class medical services to the nation's service members and their families.

About the Position:
As a clinical research institute within Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, (WRNMMC), the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE) provides a national level capability to address the most complex diagnostic and treatment challenges for patients with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and complex psychological and social challenges who have persistent impairment of function. The NICoE conducts complex diagnostic evaluations and holistic intensive day treatment to clarify diagnosis, begin long-term recovery and instill hope for patients and their families. The NICoE also conducts translational research to foster improved outcomes across the enterprise and beyond.

Basic Requirement for Health Informatics Specialist:
Degree: This position requires that you successfully complete a degree with a major study in an academic field related to the health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position, such as, Health Information Management, Health Care Administration, Health Informatics, Statistics, from an accredited college or university. (NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application package)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying areas of informatics, to include machine learning, data mining, forecasting and statistical modeling; retrieving data from different database systems including Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Teradata, Hadoop, and similar systems; and manipulating large datasets using state-of-the-art technologies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
