Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Epidemiology - Department of Global and Community Health

The George Mason University Department of Global and Community Health invites applications for nine-month, tenure-track, state-funded, Assistant Professor with expertise in epidemiology, beginning August 2017 or January 2018, to join a growing department dedicated to the ideals of diversity and inclusion, health equity, and social justice among underserved domestic and global populations. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to sustain a robust research program in their area of expertise, publish peer-reviewed articles, seek grant funding, engage in multidisciplinary collaborations, mentor graduate students, teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, participate in faculty governance, and assume leadership roles with professional organizations and societies.

Required Qualifications: * The successful candidate must have a doctorate in epidemiology or closely related field, with training and experience in applying advanced quantitative research methods.

Preferred Qualifications: * Applicants with expertise in chronic diseases are particularly encouraged to apply, but all areas of specialization will be considered; and * Applicants that have interests that align with research expertise in the department (environmental health, health behavior, social determinants of health, and global health) are preferred.

Founded in 2006, the Department of Global and Community Health offers a B.S. in Community Health, M.S. in Global Health, and a Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited M.P.H. with concentrations in Community Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Policy, Public Health Communication, and Public Health Practice, enrolling over 450 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. A Ph.D. in public health is under development. The department comprises 17 full-time faculty members with backgrounds in the social and behavioral sciences, environmental health, epidemiology, and global health.
