Term Instructor/Assistant Professor of ISOM
The George Mason University Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) Area, within the School of Business, seeks applicants for a Term Instructor/Assistant Professor (nontenure-track) to begin August 2017 to meet teaching needs primarily in the Management Information Systems (MIS) discipline. The school seeks applicants who aspire to an academic career with a primary focus on teaching. The initial appointment will be for August 2017-May 2018. Subsequent renewals are based on performance, programmatic needs and budgetary constraints. This is a full-time position with benefits. Rank assignment is contingent on level and type of experience and education. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Mason will not be able to sponsor candidates for a work visa.
Responsibilities: Teaching load for this position will be 4:4. There is opportunity for teaching in summer for extra compensation. Other responsibilities include service to the ISOM area, School of Business and the university--such as student mentoring, committees, and interfacing with students and the business community.
Required Qualifications: * MS in MIS or related discipline; * Possess professional credentials to effectively teach undergraduate MIS; * Good citizenship in terms of service is critical as is the ability to work well with colleagues; * Ability to teach the business core MIS undergraduate course (MIS 301/303); and * Ability to teach Microsoft Access and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications: * Ph.D. in MIS or related discipline; * One or more years of experience in teaching a wide variety of courses among the core and elective MIS courses in the undergraduate ISOM major; and * Ability to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in MBA/MSM/MSTM.
