The George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School invites applications for the Outreach Manager, Law and Economics Center (LEC) position. The Law and Economics Center of the George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School is a national center for research and education that focuses on the timely and relevant economic analysis of legal and public policy issues. To fulfill its education mission, the LEC provides dynamic training programs in law and economics to audiences including federal and state judges, state attorneys general, congressional staff members, academics, and other legal professionals.

Responsibilities: The Outreach Manager will be responsible for supporting the LECs directors and program coordinators by performing marketing and recruiting activities in support of educational programs for federal and state judges, attorneys general and their senior professional staff members, congressional and executive branch staff members, legal scholars, and other legal professionals. The Outreach Manager will work closely with LEC program directors, coordinators, and assistants, and will serve as the lead facilitator for LEC mentorship and external outreach initiatives. Additional responsibilities include: Outreach: * Market LEC educational programs and events to judges, attorneys general, and other legal professionals, and recruit members of these audiences for participation in LEC educational programs; * Develop and maintain relationships with a broad base of federal and state judges, state attorneys general, Members of Congress and congressional staff members, executive branch staff members, and legal professionals; and * Identify and connect relevant legal and policy audiences with LEC-supported research. Judges and AG Initiative Operations: * Serve as the lead facilitator for the LECs judicial mentorship program; * Identify and recruit appropriate officials to serve as mentors and mentees in their relevant areas of law and/or occupation; * Build and develop procedures for mentorship assignment and selection; * Work with outside organizations and individuals to identify potential recruits for Initiative participation; and * Work with LEC staff to plan and execute educational events and programs.

Program Development and Speaker/Faculty Recruitment: * Assist LEC directors and program coordinators in identifying and recruiting key subject matter experts representing a broad spectrum of viewpoints to serve as faculty and/or lecturers for educational programs and other events; and * Provide additional research support to programs as necessary.

Research: * Research topical areas of law and public policy for LEC programs; * Draft scholarly articles and articles for mass media as appropriate; and * Identify opportunities for collaboration or research development with other organizations and individuals.

Required Qualifications: * Must possess a J.D. or other advanced legal training; and have experience working in public affairs, public policy, or the legal field (at least five years of experience is strongly desired); * An understanding of the public policy arena and expertise in analyzing its effects on emerging legal issues; and * Must have an appreciation for the powers and duties of judges and state attorneys general in both the legal and public policy arenas.

Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working in government, particularly for a judge or an attorney generals office.

An ideal candidate for the position of Outreach Manager will: * Be detail-oriented and have excellent organizational and management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively; * Be energetic and highly self-motivated; * Have a professional demeanor and an ability to interact with all levels of legal, academic, and governmental officials; and * Have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

The Outreach Manager position will require some travel and a flexible work schedule.
