Employee Relations Assistant
The George Mason University Office of Human Resources and Payroll invite applications for the position of Employee Relations Assistant position. Responsibilities: The Employee Relations Assistant is a growth opportunity to gain experience in, and exposure to, the field of employee relations. This position will: * Provide a broad range of administrative and technical support to the Employee Relations team; * Ensure the confidentiality, efficiency and accuracy of employee and departmental information; * Serve as the initial point of contact, performing case intakes with all levels of employees in a diverse academic environment; * Compose and prepare correspondence; * Maintain calendars for the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources and two Employee Relations Consultants, coordinate meetings, maintain files/records, and follow up on inquiries; and * Create and maintain spreadsheets, databases and reports.
While the focus of this position is primarily administrative, depending on experience, the incumbent may prepare and deliver various types of presentations and may be involved with the delivery of conflict resolution and coaching efforts; as well as consulting on disciplinary, performance evaluation and grievance processes.
Required Qualifications: * Must be an independent, assertive self-starter; * Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality customer service; * Must be able to independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; * Must be able to remain calm even in an emotionally charged environment, and handle sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner; and * Experience with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications: * Strong writing skills; * Bachelors degree; and * Prior experience working in human resources and/or employee relations.
