Forensic Science Project Manager

The George Mason University Forensic Science (FRSC) Program, within in the College of Science, invites well-qualified candidates to apply for our Forensic Science Project Manager position. Responsibilities: This hybrid position provides forensic science technical support as well as academic, marketing, and some administrative support for the Forensic Science Program’s faculty and students. The incumbent’s primary function is to serve as the project manager of the program’s various initiatives. Specific duties include: * Coordinate the setup and daily operation of the Crime Scene House and Biometrics Lab (CSHBL); * Assist in establishing advisory committees; * Coordinate and consult on crime scene investigation scenarios used for training, and other FRSC training initiatives; * Help to coordinate all requisite student self-study and compliance programs within the FRSC Program; * Prepare technical reports in a wide range of forensic areas; * Support academic program faculty in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: participating in brainstorming and researching for course development, developing and organizing course materials, and completing advising paperwork; * Support the marketing efforts of the program such as updating the program website, photographing events, developing marketing materials, and coordinating with members of the news media; * Provide limited administrative support, such as preparing technical correspondences, purchasing materials, and reconciling the related accounts; * Develop methods to assess program effectiveness in a variety of forensic science related areas; and * Assist with internship and job placement initiatives for students, and student advising.

Required Qualifications: * Significant training and/or education in forensic science; * A strong attention to detail; * Highly developed organizational skills; * Ability to multitask; * Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds; * Excellent verbal and writing skills; * Strong analytical thinking skills; * Knowledge of research design and application to forensic science; and * Knowledge of basic forensic science laboratory design and operations.

Preferred Qualifications: * Completion of coursework related to forensic science at the master’s degree level; * Experience working in a forensic science lab or academic setting; * Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students; * Experience working with social media and marketing concepts and applications, including use of photography; and * Experience making forensic science presentations to a variety of audience.
