This position is in support of the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics and Monitoring in the Military HIV Research Program to provide expertise in the management, coordination and execution of laboratory developed assays for pathogens of US Military and National interest as well as FDA approved assays (STIs, BBI, TTIs, emerging pathogens) under CAP, CLIA/CLIP, US FDA regulatory requirements and in support of IRB approved clinical trials and clinical, public health and translational research. These assays include molecular diagnostic, clinical and therapeutic monitoring assays including qualitative HIV, HCV, GC, CT and  quantitative HIV, HCV viral load, HIV Drug resistance genotype, and research molecular assays.

 

Responsibilities include , but are not limited to, the following:

Oversight of laboratory procedures and monitoring to ensure all regulatory standards and test turn around times are met.

Maintainance of an in depth knowledge of CAP/CLIA/FDA regulatory requirements for high complexity testing.

Planning and maintance of workloads of subordinates, setting short-term priorities, and preparation of schedules for completion of work to ensure efficient and accurate testing for both clinical and research missions.

Review quality indicators to ensure assays are performing as required and technologists are reporting results according to manufacturer and/or Laboratory specifications.

Develop and implement new testing platforms/assays/procedures.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Education  

Master's degree in health, biotechnology, or laboratory science or related discipline

Qualifications 5-8 years of related experience in scientific research and laboratory operations

 

Experience with data analysis and presenting at national and international scientific meetings and conferences

 

Must be U.S Citizen / Must be able to obtain a National Security Clearance
