About the Position:
This position is located the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital with the Director for Administration in the Department of Logistics in Fort Belvoir, VA. Serves as an Equipment Specialist performing a variety of quality assurance functions for a healthcare network. Incumbent will participate in a variety of boards, working groups, and meetings as part of normal duty performance. Incumbent must have a strong knowledge of quality assurance functions to ensure timeliness of actions regarding equipment recall procedures.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Performs quality assurance functions in support of a medical treatment facility for biomedical equipment management. Assures readiness of complex medical equipment (may include biomedical) or systems in the area of remedial maintenance. Prepares contract statement of work for maintenance contracts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related; degree type Biomedical Equipment Engineering, Technology Management or Supply Chain Management, (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note you must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Experience - Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment.
Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements.
Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements.
Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders.
Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met.
Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience.
